I wonder what God thinks about people that sin in his name. As Christians and Muslims kill one another in Nigeria people seem more concerned that Obasanjo called someone an idiot.

Posted by: Behrang Saeedzadeh on May 15, 2004 02:48 AMWhile certainly not limited to just doing bad stuff in the name of God, I maintain that it is a large portion of what the Third Commandment refers to in Judaism and Christianity. (I'm not as up to speed as I need to be on Islam to know whether it hold a similar tenet, but I wouldn't be suprised.) In that light, I think it's pretty clear what He thinks about it.
Posted by: phydeaux on May 17, 2004 10:03 AMGod hasn't ever had any doubts that we are *all* sinners, unworthy of grace no matter what justification we claim for our own individual actions in any particular circumstances.
Fortunately for me, God accepts me just the way I am, on confession of my faith. It's my job on earth, in response to this, to encourage others to recognize that they can receive this acceptance too. It is also my job to illustrate (by my own behavior) what it means to be forgiven; the goal being to avoid being a roadblock to others coming to believe on their own.
It is *not* my job to judge others, or to attempt to bring harm to them based on that judgement ... the ultimate Judge will definitely take care of that issue, without any help from me :-).
